A STRONG START FOR ZABRZE CABLE FACTORY: NEW LV CABLES LINES UP AND RUNNING

Our first project in partnership with MFL marked a strategic step forward for Zabrze Cable Factory. With many years of experience working with various manufacturers, we carefully evaluate every investment decision. Choosing MFL equipment reaffirmed our high standard — investing only in technologies capable of elevating our quality and productivity.
The MFL team demonstrated professionalism, technical expertise, and adaptability throughout the process. They supported our ideas and technical requirements, enabling us to complete the project ahead of schedule and integrate the equipment at a level that meets our factory’s standards. Today, we confidently manufacture products that meet the highest industry requirements.
Zabrze Cable Factory continues to view MFL as a reliable partner for future technological solutions and production development.

Founded in 2024, Zabrze Cable Factory is a modern production site manufacturing flexible power and control cables up to 1 kV under the Electro Cable Group® brand.

Built with state-of-the-art technology and advanced equipment, its design output reaches 450 tonnes of cable per month.

The new facility benefits from Electro Cable Group’s 30+ years of experience in cable production. The Group is an independent, third-generation family-owned company with production sites in Poland and Ukraine. Its portfolio ranges from copper cathodes to power and telecom cables for both domestic and export markets. Since its beginnings in 1991, the Group has focused on delivering high-quality, competitive cable, wire, and accessories.
Today, the brand represents over 90% of Ukraine’s copper cable exports to the European Union. The Group holds VDE and RoHS certifications, reflecting its commitment to high product standards and environmental responsibility. Supported by a workforce of over 700 skilled professionals, and a continuous drive for technical advancement, Electro Cable Group is strengthening its position as a key player in the cable and wire industry.

The start of a shared journey

For the launch of its new facility, Zabrze Cable Factory chose MFL Group for its rigid stranding line and drum twister line, relying on the strength of our group and the proven reliability of our machinery.

Both lines are dedicated to producing low-voltage cables and are already up and running. Mechanical and electrical commissioning was carried out by our specialists together with the Zabrze team. The agreed performance targets were achieved, and the entire commissioning process proceeded smoothly, thanks to the expertise and collaboration of both teams.

During commissioning, multiple cross-sections of round cable were tested, all delivering excellent results. The prespiralled sector and sector-shaped cables were also set up successfully, allowing the Zabrze team to start production immediately, without the need for further adjustments.

As part of our growing collaboration, we invited Oleksandr Isaiev (CEO, Zabrze Cable Factory) and his team to visit our headquarters in Molteno and our extrusion facility in Spinetoli , offering them a firsthand look at our processes and the people behind our solutions.

The lines behind our first project

The 37×630 rigid stranding line is designed to produce Class 2 copper conductors and Class 5 flexible conductors. It can also lay up insulated conductors, up to 37 wires.

Each machine in the line is independently motorized, ensuring precise lay length control through digital synchronization. The configuration allows operators to select any lay length continuously from the control panel.

Both the pay-off and the rigid strander use a special bearing-pintle design that ensures low-friction operation and maintains a minimum wire tension of 4 kg. The line also includes a fully automatic side-loading system for loading and unloading all bobbins.

The MFL Group CES series stands out for several features:

  • Driven pintles, each powered by an independent AC motor, ensuring stable reel holding and enabling operators to load or unload one bobbin at a time.
  • Compatibility with various loading devices—from fully automatic loaders to compact platform models—when floor space is limited.
  • An alternative low-friction pintle design developed for processing highly sensitive products.

For laying up insulated copper or aluminum conductors, Zabrze selected a 1600 drum twister. This line combines quality, productivity, and flexibility.

Key features include automatic tension adjustment on pay-offs and take-ups to ensure constant tension, and rotating dancers for full-speed control in low-tension applications. The UPS and dynamic regenerative drive system allow the machine to stop safely during a power failure, protecting the product.

The drum twister for laying-up, armouring, and screening is suitable for low, medium, high, and extra-high voltage cables, as well as Milliken, marine, petrochemical, fiber optic, and telephone cables.

Conclusion

This first project reflects a shared commitment to quality, efficiency, and long-term growth. The coordinated engineering efforts, precise installation, and accurate machine configuration helped reduce ramp-up time and ensured consistent cable quality from day one. The smooth commissioning process, supported by close collaboration between Zabrze’s specialists and our field team, allowed the new facility to move quickly into stable production, meeting all performance targets. With these results in place, Zabrze Cable Factory has strengthened its production capabilities and created a solid foundation for future technical developments.
