Technologies for HV and EHV power cables
A key focus will be MFL Group’s expertise in solutions for the production of High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cables, for both onshore and offshore applications.
The production process starts with high-performance rod breakdown machines, engineered to combine high productivity, excellent wire quality and reduced energy consumption. These machines can be integrated with annealers for wire diameters above 8 mm and keystone sizes up to 50 mm², with outputs of up to 6,800 kg/h.
For large power cable conductors, MFL Group offers rigid cage stranders for up to 169 wires and 630/800 mm bobbins. Their robust design provides mechanical stability and precise conductor positioning, supporting the production of large cross-sections while maintaining the quality and consistency required for demanding cable applications.
Flexible reel-loading configurations, from fully automated systems to compact, space-saving solutions, allow the equipment to be adapted to different production layouts. MFL Group also supplies dedicated rigid cage screening lines, including solutions with optical fibre application capabilities.
Advanced extrusion for high-performance cables
MFL Group’s extrusion technologies are designed to increase productivity while maintaining stable and consistent processing conditions. Depending on the application, they can deliver throughput increases of up to 40%, together with rapid compound changeovers without barrel disassembly.
The technology is suitable for high-quality, CPR-compliant and halogen-free compounds. A patented extruder design, precise melt-temperature control and stable processing conditions contribute to reliable operation and efficient production over the long term.
Solutions for wire and rope production
Beyond power cables, MFL Group will present its portfolio of drawing, stranding and closing technologies for both standard and specialized wire and rope applications.
The portfolio also includes technologies for reinforcement steel production, covering stretching, cold rolling, straightening and cutting processes.
Among the solutions on display are planetary stranding and closing machines for the efficient production of a wide range of steel ropes. Their flexible configuration enables the production line to be adapted to different product specifications, from standard products to highly specialized applications, while maintaining high levels of product quality and process reliability.
Planetary stranding technology is also used in several growing cable applications, including power cable armouring, the laying-up of large power cables and the production of Milliken conductors. Large planetary closing machines can also be used for the production of umbilical cables and other special cables.
Specialized drawing technologies
MFL Group will also highlight its experience in specialized drawing applications, including solutions for aluminum and aluminum-clad steel products.
For extruded aluminum pipes, MFL Group has developed a drawing line capable of processing multiple tube sizes and alloys. The line incorporates an innovative in-line induction annealing system, integrating thermal treatment directly into the production process to optimize the overall line configuration and process efficiency.
For aluminum-clad steel wire, MFL Group offers a dedicated drawing line designed around the specific requirements of this application. The solution combines accumulation systems to minimize downtime, integrated quality control before take-up, specialized die technology and optimized lubricant management. Continuous monitoring of drawing parameters further supports stable production and consistent product quality.
