A partnership built over years

The partnership between Barnfather Wire and MFL Group began in 2008, when Barnfather was in search of a new drawing line. Since then, the collaboration has grown steadily through multiple projects, covering a wide range of machinery — from controlled straight-line dry drawing lines to fully automatic vertical spoolers.

Thanks to our machines, he has successfully modernized his entire production process. This upgrade has led to significantly higher drawing speeds, improved and more consistent wire quality, and increased availability and reliability of the drawing lines. Consequently, operational efficiency has been optimized, production capacity expanded, and the company is now well-positioned to meet growing market demands and pursue new business opportunities.

The latest project together

Barnfather has once again turned to MFL Group with the goal of increasing its production capacity. The new drawing lines are designed to produce steel wire ranging from low-carbon to medium-carbon grades, with larger finished diameters. They can handle finished wires up to Ø 15.5 mm and offer versatility across the full range of Ø 4.5 – 15.5 mm. Bright-drawn wires can also be produced as an option, and for the first time, the customer can offer both compact coils and layer-by-layer spooled coils.

The installation includes two wire drawing lines:

First line:

• Wire rod overhead pay-off
• Mechanical descaling with brushes
• KGT 28/2 drawing machine
• Downstream KEW 1-650 hanging coiler

Second line:

• Overhead rod pay-off
• Mechanical descaling with brushes
• KGT 28/5 drawing machine
• Downstream KEWS III-Z draw coiler
