Wuxi Jiangnan Cables Co., Ltd is a large-scale manufacturer for wires and cables.

Equipped with the most advanced technology, the company produces more than 100 products with more than 40000 specifications in three categories: cables up to 500kV, electrical equipment cables, and bare wires up to 1100kV.

With the aim of increasing the production capacity of medium voltage cables, Wuxi Jiangnan Cables Co., Ltd chose again MFL Group as engineering machinery supplier for the new rod breakdown machine.

Rod breakdown machine’s highlights

The rod breakdown machine is one of the key machines in a cable plant and it influences the quality of the cable, the production speed and electric consumption.

The TS series, limited slip rod breakdown machine, is available for copper, aluminum, bimetallic and alloy wires, and it was the machine selected for Wuxi Jiangnan Cables Co., Ltd.

Here are some of the key features that makes our rod breakdown machine (TS series) a lever for the success of wire manufacturers.

The peculiarity of Frigeco rod breakdown machine is the slip, which is not cumulative capstan by capstan but every single capstan work with real 1% slip according with the real wire speed in that capstan. This resulted from a long experience in the software management and driver programming which guarantee a very high precision on motor RMP control.

The first section blocks are equipped with a small gearbox that has a high mechanical and thermal efficiency, allowing the machine to operate without trouble, improve motor power use and increase machine efficiency.

The dies and capstan are fully submerged in coolant to prevent overheating, wire oxidation, and surface problems. Additionally, all the annealing shafts are internally water-cooled, up to the inner part of the contact band.

The Frigeco rod breakdown machine uses A.C. IP55 motors with inverters, eliminating filters, brushes, manifolds, belts, pulleys, and joints. Most bearings are greased for life or lubricant immersed, requiring no maintenance. The pulley bearing-grassing-cooling-greasing containment had been studied in cooperation with a high-level university, ensuring high production speed operation without extra maintenance and/or continuous need for greasing.

The DC annealing system provides stable wire annealing, even during speed ramps, and as an option, Frigeco can propose a switch to set the required voltage to save energy in the same way as an AC annealer.

The rod breakdown machine has several features that enable energy savings of up to 20%, including minimised slippage, the transmission of the last drawing blocks by means of direct axis motors, exclusion of motors of the blocks not used, air-cooled motors, and no need for re-phasing condensers.
