According to an article by McKinsey & Co from 2019, roughly 66% of the value pool in an industrial machine is its software and the quality of the service it receives over its useful life. At MFL X, we want to help our customers harvest that value by leveraging Exponential Technologies (i.e. Industrial IoT, Big Data & Artificial Intelligence) and by developing smart industrial applications that digitally enhance MFL production lines.


Add value to your Steel Wire Drawing Line

The MFLXIoTApp-S is a proprietary MFL GROUP application running on Mindsphere, the cloud-based open IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) operating system from Siemens. This version of the app has been carefully customized to be compatible with the Mario Frigerio S-SERIES Steel Wire Drawing Lines. The app is fully responsive, it runs both in your desktop browser and in any of your Android or iOS mobile devices.

Main Features of the App

Home Page:

  • Select your asset in grid, list or map views. Map view is great for multinational customers

  • Check status of the line (Normal Run, Jog Mode, Stopped, etc.)

  • Visualize a quick performance report (30-day OEE and main Production Data)

Remote Monitoring

  • Key production information of the complete line

  • Real time threshold alerts

  • You can also go deeper by clicking on a specific machine

OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

  • Measuring OEE is a manufacturing best practice. By measuring OEE and the underlying losses, you will gain important insights on how to systematically improve your manufacturing process. OEE is the single best metric for identifying losses, bench-marking progress, and improving the productivity of manufacturing equipment (i.e., eliminating waste).

  • You can manually select the period of analysis in order to visualize trend lines for either OEE or a single variable of the OEE equation.

KPI (Key Performance Indicator) Analysis

  • Manually select he period of analysis in order to visualize trendlines for a large set of KPI such as: OEE, Energy Consumption, Energy Coefficient, Produced Length, Exceeding Thresholds, Die Wear, Die Wear Rate, Produced Reels, Produced Mass Material Waste, Output diameter 1σ (one Sigma) distribution, Average output diameter, etc.

  • The app allows for various levels of aggregation such as period of analysis, article ID or recipe. For example, you can find out which type of wire production is more energy efficient so you can run your line when the electricity tariff is less expensive.

Breakdowns

  • Visualize which breakdowns are causing most of the downtime. This is represented both using a PARETO chart or a table.

  • Also visualize: (a) Average breakdowns per day; (b) Average downtime per day; Mean time between failures (MTBF) and Meantime time to repair (MTTR).

Technical Support

  • The App is directly connected to our Customer Support Portal. Most of the information in the form is precompiled for your specific production line. All you have to do is add optional attachments and a description of the problem and the system will take care of sorting your request so in lands in the hands of the correct support engineer.  

Machine Settings

  • You can program the corresponding work shifts. This information is crucial for the correct calculation of the OEE.


Software as a Service (SaaS)

The MFLX-IoTApp-S application is provided as an annual recurring service that includes software updates, bug fixes and improvements. The MFL X team is constantly fine-tuning its applications and procedures to improve your user experience. Some new app features will be available for free as part of the current subscription. Other advanced future functionalities will be available as an add-on to the current subscription.
